I assume he tried to create a system where every update is noticeable and he nailed that at least. Without it, you are far too weak but with it, you become far too strong. I think the problem with that is the insane scaling of gear. It's a consequence of removing custom seeds, which I think is a bad thing too, but sort of necessary to not grind low level worlds for artifacts. I mean if you would upscale 'far away' regions based on your location other users would basically be left in the dust, spawning in a high-level zone. I think the Level based approach for Regions was tossed to replace the world with an NMS system, where everyone plays on the same map. I do kinda understand the combat system change as it makes it more console friendly for future console releases maybe? I hope Wollay bring back the level system and random world generation back and replaces the region lock and no level just rarity system into the full release version as it just feels more fun and actually makes u feel like you are progressing in the game like a true rpg game instead of the system we have right now which restrict you to one region and nerf your equipments in other region which feels like a roguelike game.Although i think keeping the artifact feature is fine but maybe make it a separate level for the level up. Coincidentally Breath of the wild was released during March 3rd of 2017 so maybe Wollay had played it which is why he decided to rework the entire system to be more like botw? Just a thought.
